Why Are The Claims About Genetic Drift Invalid ?

From time to time, various terms are thrown out to advocate on behalf of evolutionary theory.  Typically, these terms are repeatedly used in well-known science journals or websites with no regard to their rationality or scientific validity. The objective is to mold public opinion in order to sustain the evolutionary theory.

“Genetic Drift” is one those imaginary evolutionary mechanisms used for this purpose. The terms “Mutation and Natural Selection” are frequently utilized in a twisted fashion while claims about genetic drift are discussed. Contrary to the scientific facts, these terms are introduced as if there are “processes in nature that work in favor of the evolution and lead to a coincidental acquisition of new genetic data”. However, these processes, which lead to the loss of data rather than acquisition, actually constitute evidence for the invalidity of the evolutionary theory instead of its validity.

What does the alleged Genetic Drift mean?

The word “drift” in English means “to be carried along by currents of air or water,” and “to proceed or move unhurriedly or aimlessly.” Therefore, the intent with the use of the word “drift” which holds connotations of coincidental changes - the fundamental basis of the evolutionary ideology - can clearly be seen here.

The Big Bang One Of The Proofs of Creation

It is quite hard to upset the equilibrium between the elements that are essential to life on Earth. You do not suddenly start breathing carbon monoxide or floating away from your chair into space due to a decrease in the force of gravity. Sunlight does not suddenly damage your eyes and skin, and oxygen levels do not rise so high that your lungs begin to burn. There are many reasons for this. However, the interesting thing is that all balances assumed their present forms due to the Big Bang, defined as the explosion of a single point of zero volume that contained all matter in the universe.

Islamic Images

Countless conditions combined in order to maintain this equilibrium. For example, if the rate of the universe’s post-Big Bang expansion had been just 1 in 1 billion (1/1018) different, the universe would not have emerged. If the universe had expanded just slightly more slowly, it would have imploded due to the gravitational force; if it had expanded a little more quickly, all cosmic matter would have dispersed and vanished. If a 1/1018 difference in the explosion’s speed had arisen just when that speed had reached a particular level, the equilibrium in question would have been destroyed. If just one of these minute variations had arisen, the universe would have disappeared.

Let’s take a look around us. Everything is in an extraordinary state of stasis, calm, and perfection, because nothing in the universe is coincidental. In fact, everything depends on a flawless and perfect level and the extraordinarily delicate balances created and set into motion by Almighty Allah, Who rules everything, created a flawless artistry and miracle via a single explosion, and is all-giving:

The Expansion Of The Universe In The Light Of Holy Quran

Science ‘discovered’ in the 20th century what the Quran had revealed 1400 years ago about the expanding universe. In 1929, in the California Mount Wilson observatory, an American astronomer by the name of Edwin Hubble made one of the greatest discoveries in the history of astronomy. While he observed the stars with a giant telescope, he found out that the light from them was shifted to the red end of the spectrum and that this shift was more pronounced the further a star was from the earth. This discovery had an electrifying effect in the world of science, because according to the recognized rules of physics, the spectra of light beams travelling towards the point of observation tend towards violet while the spectra of the light beams moving away from the point of observation tend towards red. During Hubble’s observations, the light from stars was discovered to tend towards red. This meant that they were constantly moving away from us.

Before long, Hubble made another very important discovery: Stars and galaxies moved away not only from us, but also from one another. The only conclusion that could be derived from a universe where everything moves away from everything else is that the universe constantly ‘expands’. To better understand, the universe can be thought of as the surface of a balloon being blown up. Just as the points on the surface of a balloon move apart from each other as the balloon is inflated, so do the objects in space move apart from each other as the universe keeps expanding. In fact, this had been theoretically discovered even earlier. Albert Einstein, who is considered the greatest scientist of the century, had concluded after the calculations he made in theoretical physics that the universe could not be static. However, he had laid his discovery to rest simply not to conflict with the widely recognized static universe model of his time. Later on, Einstein was to identify his act as ‘the greatest mistake of his career’. Subsequently, it became definite by Hubble’s observations that the universe expands. What importance, then, did the fact that the universe expands have on the existence of the universe?

The expansion of the universe implied that if it could travel backwards in time, the universe would prove to have originated from a single point. The calculations showed that this ‘single point’ that harbored all the matter of the universe should have ‘zero volume’ and ‘infinite density’. The universe had come about by the explosion of this single point with zero volume. This great explosion that marked the beginning of the universe was named the ‘Big Bang’ and the theory started to be so called.

It has to be stated that ‘zero volume’ is a theoretical expression used for descriptive purposes. Science can define the concept of ‘nothingness’, which is beyond the limits of human comprehension, only by expressing it as ‘a point with zero volume’. In truth, ‘a point with no volume’ means ‘nothingness’. The universe has come into being from nothingness. In other words, it was created. The Big Bang theory showed that in the beginning all the objects in the universe were of one piece and then were parted. This fact, which was revealed by the Big Bang theory was stated in the Qur’an 14 centuries ago, when people had a very limited knowledge about the universe:

Islamic Images

“Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before We clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?”
[Al-Anbiyaa 21:30]

As stated in the verse, everything, even the ‘heavens and the earth’ that were not yet created, were created with a Big Bang out of a single point, and shaped the present universe by being parted from each other. When we compare the statements in the verse with the Big Bang theory, we see that they fully agree with each other. However, the Big Bang was introduced as a scientific theory only in the 20th century. The expansion of the universe is one of the most important pieces of evidence that the universe was created out of nothing. Although this fact was not discovered by science until the 20th century, Allah has informed us of this reality in the Qur’an revealed 1,400 years ago:

“It is We who have built the universe with (Our creative) power, and, verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it.”

Google | An Emerging Global Actor In The Internet World | Adnan Oktar

The diversity of information that Google provides is also a subject of criticism. The Internet is an environment with no quality control; anyone can gather whatever batch of information they wish and present it to the whole world.

It employs over 70,000 people around the world. It owns five of the top 10 most downloaded mobile applications in the United States. Having being traded at $85 in its initial public offering, the company’s shares rose up to $600. The company with the highest mobile and digital ad revenue. In 2017, its revenue in the mobile market is expected to reach some $50 billion.

The above describes Google, one of the world’s leading technology companies. It has offices in many countries and their online products carry significance beyond their commercial value. Today, Google’s actions have profound effects that can change the entire world. With its current scale, it is not only a technology company but also a global actor.

One of the most elaborated subjects in international relations is the concept of an “actor.” In international relations, entities that can make independent decisions and take independent action are called actors. States, individuals, national interest groups, international organisations and transnational organisations are the most common actors of international relations. Even though they differ in type and organisational structure, the common characteristic of all actors is their ability to influence other actors. Google is also recognized as one of the major global actors among others, such as General Motors, IBM, Exxon-Mobil, Shell, Unilever and Microsoft.

Google is not just a mere search engine; it offers a cornucopia of services in different areas. Google offers a wide variety of possibilities for a vast number of people in the world with services such as; Google Analytics for reviewing website statistics, the free online mail service Gmail, the document editing tool package Google Docs and Google Translate for helping people to communicate in different languages, the Internet browser Google Chrome, social media networks YouTube and Google plus, and Google Earth for displaying a 3D representation of earth based on satellite imagery.

Google is a technology company, but the services it provides also have a social aspect. For example, you can observe a forested area in a city, thanks to Google Earth, and measure how much of this area has been destroyed by urbanization over time; likewise, you can watch a conflict between the security forces of a country and demonstrators.

Moreover, the ability to comment on the shared information, documents and videos can turn masses into participants in global or local events, helping the organisation of new social movements.

The fact that online data can be easily and quickly accessed today leads to the empowerment of both citizens and non-state actors. It strengthens the hand of global civil society against national Governments, international bureaucrats and traditional political elites.

Until now, the main sources of news for many countries were the Governments. Therefore, Press agencies were limited to the information presented to them by the Governments for their news pieces for the masses. In today’s cyber age, people have the ability to access news and information that can rival Governments in quality and speed. In this way, NGOs, think-tanks and various interest groups are able to question Governments’ practices more frequently and effectively.

Non-governmental organisations are now far more effective in their efforts on specialized subjects, such as the environment, global poverty, public health, personal rights and freedoms.

In this sense, it is possible to say that Google has made an important contribution to democracy and human rights in the world. However, the final picture is not so perfect. The diversity of information that Google provided is also a subject of major criticism. The Internet is an environment with no quality control; anyone can gather whatever batch of information they wish and present it to the whole world. It is not possible to know the reliability of the information that Google presents, especially on political issues.

Moreover, the parameters Google uses to determine the priority of search results are not entirely clear.

When these facts are taken into consideration, it can even be said that Google is the biggest propagator of political radicalism, racism, pornography or religious bigotry.

Undoubtedly, Google is already aware of this and is making every effort to establish the necessary control mechanisms but considering that there are one billion different web sites on the Internet, it will not be easy.

While Google distributes information, it also collects information from its users. This information includes a variety of personal information, from personal pictures to political tendencies, their holiday locations during the summer and the kind of food they prefer.

When we consider this side of their operations, it is not wrong to think of Google as the world’s largest intelligence firm. But how much of this information is shared and with whom? This is one of the most important questions of our time and unfortunately there is, for now at least, no clear answer. That’s why many countries feel the need to set up their own search engines and mail services, in order to establish a protective shield.

Another criticism is about Google’s influence on the new generation. According to this school of thought, Google makes it easy to jump to a variety of contents on different subjects. For this reason, it undermines young people’s ability to think and learn, and destroys their ability to focus.

Even though the world of the Internet has some drawbacks, it is actually an important world paving the way for very important developments. So much so that the wealth of information accessible through today’s Internet and social media have the power to influence the minds of the masses.

The effective use of this weapon may disturb some of the world’s delicate balances. This significant power over the masses can be well-used for the propagation of peace and reason. Hateful masses are created by propaganda and indoctrination; the same methods can be conveniently used to spread love and friendship across the world. It is even enough to merely change the type of language used on the Internet to achieve this.

Big Internet platforms like Google possess the power to do that. Propaganda, which is the driving factor of today’s wars, massacres, exploitation and brutality, can easily be utilised for positive suggestions.

It should not be forgotten that the human soul is more receptive to positive ideas. Platforms like Google should direct all their talents and capabilities to change the masses that shape the world; to create happy, free and peaceful societies and to break the chains of negativity.
